11 Game Reviews

Dear Brother...

A rather unusual yet intriguing addition to the portal, this game has great similarities to Gateway. The eerie sci-fi feel implemented makes for a thrilling experience. The tension builds up with each new discovery, giving it a sort of Resident Evil musk thrown in the mix. The puzzles, as few as there were, are so undeniably well-conceived to seem as if you've experienced them beforehand. From beginning to end, Goliath The Soothsayer is just about everything you could want out of a horror/puzzle game. Brilliance indeed.

One of a Kind

One of the most mind-boggling games out there. The concept in essence is similar to the portal game thats also here on Newgrounds. Who knew black and white could look so good. Good Job.

Cursor of Death

Very interesting game design with much to offer. Has plenty of features and modes to choose from as well. The sounds and particle effects are quite impressive. As repetitive as the gameplay may seem, it's also quite addictive. A very unique style and intuitive game mechanics that really grab the player and put them on a ride. Solid game overall.

Like Pawns to the Slaughter

I've probably only seen a few games like this that apparently "evolve" as you progress. Age of War is like taking Age of Empires and molding it into a 2-D side-scroller where everyone's become machines. The artwork is decent enough, the musical scores that loop tend to burn out after a while, and the gameplay is a bit sluggish. One by one you watch them fall on their face, hoping that the battle will sway in your favor. I was hoping for a generally bigger selection when I started off the game really. The game structure is stable, but a little rough around the edges. This was a great idea here that you just needed to build off a bit more.

RPG for the Soul

Nothing really seems to stand out in this one. The game works just like any other rpg. The 8-bit style seems rather overused and doesn't have any luster to it. The dialogue doesn't have any atmosphere to it other than your average high school film-type conversation. The gameplay can holds its own though. The game's worth taking a run through, but leaves would leave many gamers yearning for more.

Mini Guitar Hero

In my opinion, this is by far the best music-related flash game to ever grace the pages of Newgrounds. Simple yet intuitive game mechanics and solid control allow for some incredibly addictive gameplay. The quality of the songs is remarkably high. The overall detail is somewhat bland and could leave some gamers craving for more in terms of visuals. Despite the lack of "eyecandy," the game holds together very well. Fans of Guitar Hero wouldn't want to miss this imitation as the whole package leaves little to the imagination. Outstanding.

An Epic Adventure

I have to say...I was a bit skeptical at first, but there was much more content than I expected. Nice artwork and such. Music was nice and simple really. The movement was a bit sluggish, but wasn't really a downer at all in the long run. The few people that turn their movies into games usually falter in the transition. This, however, is just a masterpiece. Cheers.

Above and Beyond

Among all the fighter games I've played on this site, Newgrounds Rumble looks like a godly figure. The controls are solid, the artwork is phenomenal, and the rewards are...awesome. Can't really point out any flaws in this title, although a greater depth in the character selection would've been nice. Still, the choices that are present do fit nicely. Good work.

A Game for the Ages

Nice way to start off on Newgrounds. This game delivers on so many levels and leaves little to the imagination. The variety of weapons is nice to look at, but some are rather weak in the long run. Weapons obtained later in the game prove to be disappointing at times. Despite it's drawbacks, The Last Stand lives up to it's name that many Newgrounders would claim it to be. Popping heads has never been so fun since the days of Resident Evil 4.

A Stroke of Genius

Separates itself apart from the others in so many ways. The method of transportation though the portals is remarkably clever. A completely fresh experience for any flash gamer. Though it may seem repetitive at times, the replay value just absolutely dissolves the thought. Briliant.
